How fast you decide
Taylor Good · 2026-08-03
Model access commoditizes in weeks. That's not the interesting part anymore. What still separates people is how fast you judge and move.
I call it judgment latency. Time from signal to the irreversible action that changes the week. Everyone gets the same tools. They don't get the same kill rate.
I watch people collect prompt packs like gear. Feels like edge. Usually it's delay dressed as preparation. Half-life of a sharp insight is short. Wait for the pretty deck and someone already shipped the ugly version and is learning from reality.
So I install how I work. Agents where they compress research or drafts. Habits that stick. Then I throw out whatever doesn't earn its place by cycle time, error, or dollars moved. Access without a kill rate is just noise with better UX.
I live this as a sole operator. Claude for architecture. Cursor for shipping. Entropy Index with Travis. Art as WARHODL. Seal reviews when the work is judgment under a rubric. Different surfaces. Same scarce resource: decide, then prove.
The people who look busiest with AI are often the slowest to decide. They're optimizing for optionality while the arena rewards committed motion.
If you're waiting for the perfect setup, someone already rebuilt their Tuesday around an imperfect one. Speed of judgment over access. That's the curve.
